For the box lover! This simple little wood box is probably from the San Blas Islands where the indigenous Cuna Indians live on over 350 islands. These folks live quite simply in thatched roofed houses, have trunks for their clothes and boxes like this hold their prized jewelry used for special & ceremonial occasions. This sweet simple box was first painted black, the relief carving of the leaves made the design pop! Typically sold in open air markets to the locals.
Note the front of the box has a few tiny holes in the wood, but there is no active beetle feasting. Fill with something like a plane ticket to a secluded beach in Panama and it will make an exotic and favorite gift.
