This is a large beautiful hand painted wooden box is from the Mexican town of Olinala in the state of Guerrero. (My van broke down there once) They have been making fine lacquer boxes and trunks for hundreds of years. The quality of boxes has dwindled the past 40 years so this one is a deal and a delight if you don't already have one. These days the artists don't take the time to do detailed paintings. Use this big box for your remote controls, photos or 450 truffles.
