NEW Big Eyes Skull

Beautiful, hand painted red papier mache Big Eyes skull.

What's more iconic for Day of the Dead than a big, colorful, spectacular papier mâché sugar skull for your entry, bar or ofrenda?  A sugar skull represents a departed soul so the big eyes & joyous design let's you look into the soul while you remember your loved one.

Papier mâché was brought to Mexico by the French in during the reign of the Emperor Maximilian. While Abraham Lincoln was fighting the Civil War, Maximilian was introducing Mexico to everything French. A little town close to Mexico City was the cradle of all papier mâché - Celeya - and remains so today. They made papier mâché masks, toys & dolls for the poorer folks that couldn't afford European imported goods. These popular, colorful folk art pieces spread into homes & festivals in all parts of Mexico, and their durability has made them last throughout the ages - even Diego Rivera had papier mâché filling his painting studio.

Papier mâché is a timeless & collected type of traditional folk art and will make a great centerpiece for your Day of the Dead celebration. Each skull is unique. Excellent quality papier mâché & very well painted. 11 inches deep x 8 inches wide x 9 inches high. Mexico

These posters are close to a perfect duplicate of the original movie posters of 60 to 70 years ago.

My goal is to create a product that can take you back to the days of great films and actors like Dolores del Rio, Pedro Infante, Maria Felix, Jorge Negrete, Pedro Armendariz, Ninon Sevilla, German Valdez (Tin Tan), Sarita Montiel and so many more. View the posters here!
